Australian Research Centre for Water in Society staff members from Perth are visiting the Murrumbidgee catchment for a fact finding tour associated with a Land &Water Australia project on water sharing. There will be an opportunity for informal discussion on current activities and opportunities, and a brief report from Geoff Syme (Director, Water Security and Sustainable Communities, CSIRO Land and Water) on Water Benefits Accounting and Assessment. Blair Nancarrow is the Director of ARCWIS. The Centre specialises in social science research and has awards for pioneering contributions to community psychology in Australia, defining fairness in water allocation, and promoting water conservation.

River Murray Catchment Management Board are looking for student projects with outcomes associated with the improved management of the regions natural resources: salinity, flow management, water use, water quality, land management and biodiversity, community education and involvement, managing the Mallee prescribed wells area, monitoring evaluation and reporting.
They require a one page summary of the research project outlining: Project title, proposed scope of works or methodology, Person/s responsible for undertaking/supervising the research, Funds requested from the board, Contribution from the proponent of other organisations.

ARC Network -Bill Green has attended a meeting in Canberra of a proposed network on Australian Population Research based at the ANU. He describes the original network bid ‘Reimaging the Ecosocial Sustainability in the Murray Darling Basin’ with the Hawke Institute of University of South Australia and others, and a discussion piece on the meaning of ecosocial sustainability.
